Power Delivery Products, Inc. is an engineering, marketing, technical sales, and distribution company specializing in the Electric Utility Industry. Power Delivery Products, Inc. began operations in Atlanta, Georgia in January 1998 as the exclusive distributor of Horstmann Faulted Circuit Indictors in the United States and Mexico. The founders of Power Delivery Products, Inc. have over 100 years of experience in the electric utility industry with their main focus being the ‘distribution’ or ‘power delivery’ segment of the utility. In addition to the main Atlanta office where products are warehoused and distributed, Power Delivery Products has an office in Santa Rosa, California. Power Delivery Products, Inc. markets and sells products to electric utilities worldwide through a highly motivated and trained Technical Sales organization.

Horstmann GmbH, located near Dusseldorf Germany, has been the leader in the design and manufacture of faulted circuit indicators since 1946. Because Horstmann designs in quality and reliability first, their products have been the choice of Electric Utilities worldwide for over sixty years. Horstmann’s first faulted circuit indicator, the mechanical rotor, has been reliably locating faults for the last sixty five years. Their first electronic unit, the CRAB, was introduced in 1978 with lithium cell technology. This technology offers flashing LED indication, automatic reset, greater flexibility in trip ratings and curves, and is armed and ready to indicate fault conditions. These FCIs do not have to rely on capacitors, current, or voltage sources to charge and operate. Over thirty years have passed, and these faulted circuit indicators are still performing in the field today. Horstmann revolutionized faulted circuit indicator design and manufacture with the introduction of the Load Tracker in 1995. This one size fits all fault indicator has built in immunity from inrush, is hotstick installed within minutes, and adjusts to circuit conditions to insure you always have the proper unit on your system. Faulted Circuit Indicators have been used for over sixty years on transmission and distribution circuits to quickly identify the location of faulted equipment. Faulted circuit indicators reduce outage time, reduce operating costs, and improve customer service – a critical component of a utility’s success. During most fault conditions, a large magnitude of fault current is present on the system from the source to the point of the fault. Faulted circuit indicators installed at various points on the system, sense this condition and acknowledge by means of an indication ( LED, Flag, Strobe, Fluid, Rotor, Remotely, etc.). Troublemen dispatched to investigate the disturbance look for fault indicators to lead them to the problem. By locating the last tripped faulted circuit indicator and the first untripped indicator, the troubleman has isolated the fault to a specific segment of the circuit. By switching out the faulted segment, power can be restored to the balance of the circuit while the faulted segment is repaired. In addition to URD circuits, faulted circuit indicators are being used on overhead circuits to improve outage time, reliability and to locate transient problems. Other names for faulted circuit indicators include, ground fault indicators, earth fault indicators and fault indicators.
